Demonstration of blogging and its power
Google Reader (100+) We are sitting in class in Mssion BC talking about the power of blogging for professionals. It is as easy as writing an email to add and update a blog.
Blogs are the up and coming tool for marketing your business. Might be. I've blogged off and on for five years. It was a simple way for me to note places I had visited and to record my thoughts. As I grow my own business, this blog chronicles some of my thoughts on design, business and odd stuff that I read as I travel the web.

Top Ten Web Design Mistakes of 2005 (Jakob Nielsen's Alertbox):
The positive of Jakob Nielsen's list of web design mistakes :
Pretty simple list but most of the sites that I get involved with violate it in one way or another.
- "text they can read;
- content that answers their questions;
- navigation and search that help them find what they want;
- short and simple forms (streamlined registration, checkout, and other workflow); and
- no bugs, typos, or corrupted data; no linkrot; no outdated content."
'Pump-and-Dump' Spam Surge Linked to Russian Bot Herders It has been hard to find out what is happening with all the Spam. In part I suspect the people that are hunting it are so busy with it that they aren/t talking but I also suspect that people are keeping quiet because it is so out of control. They simply don't want people knowing where they are in the fight.

Max Wachtell in google groups way back in 2004 produced a wee list that lists the "things to do" and I don't think really that the list has changed all that much. I commend the first three points to your thinking.
Column: What are online RSS feeds? - Yahoo! News
Two entries in one night! Unfortunately this will probably suffer link rot relatively quickly. While it lasts though it is an excellent description and introduction to RSS and how it is replacing email as a mode for client discussion.
Vancouver business directories - Google Search I often get more out of teaching my workshops than many of the learners in the workshop (At least I think so) In this instance it brought to my attention the importance of being visible in business directories. Not nearly true for most service businesses but for those that provide a tangible service it is increasingly important. There is a side value to being in the yellow pages in that many times they are used as the basis for these listings. But there are many groups from the local chamber of commerce to specialized local listings that provide a similar service. And for these businesses they need to be there.
